Water & Sewer

Residential customers may pay water bills online with a Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit card, or with debit card linked to a checking or savings account. Customers may choose to make a one-time payment or sign up to have payments made automatically from a designated account each billing period.

Customers who choose to register an account, even if they do not opt for automatic payments, will be able to sign up for paperless billing, store payment account information, pay by text and send an online request directly to the Village.

About Your Water Bill

Most property owners are billed quarterly. The bill also includes refuse and recycling collection charges. Rates can change, typically on January 1 of a new year.

Customers are urged to read their water bills carefully to verify the accuracy of charges. If charges for water, sewer, refuse or recycling collection services provided by the Village have been calculated incorrectly, charges will be assessed or refunded for the erroneously billed period up to 24 months.

The property owner is responsible for ensuring all plumbing lines and fixtures connected to the water meter are in good working condition. An unusually high bill may indicated a water leak. If you have questions about an unusually high bill, contact the Public Works Department at 708.358.5700 to determine if an inspection is warranted.

Shut Off/Reconnenction Procedures for Non-Payment

A bill is not considered paid until payment has been received. The Village attempts to notify customers of delinquent bills. If a bill remains unpaid for 26 days, a late fee is assessed and a reminder notice mailed. If payment is not received within 20 days of the reminder notice, water service will be disconnected.

All past due amounts must be paid prior to reconnection. A $50 reconnection fee is assessed if reconnection is made by 2:30 p.m. weekdays. If reconnection is made after 2:30 p.m., a $150 reconnection fee will be assessed. All past due amounts and fees must be paid before water service will be restored. The customer must be present at the property when service is restored.

If service to a property had been scheduled for disconnection, water service may be discontinued without notice. The Village assumes no responsibility for any impact on the property that may occur as a result of the water service being disconnected.

Return Payment Policy

All returned payments are subject to a $15 fee in addition to outstanding charges. Payment can be made in cash, certified check, money order or credit card.

Notice of Moving

Customers should contact the Village at least five days prior to moving to allow for the meter to be read for a final bill. All accounts must be current to transfer a property. Final water bills cannot be paid by personal check.

Interruption of Service

Refuse services and charges may be suspended for any property that will be vacant for 30 days or more. Credit for service will be given only if the Village is notified prior to vacancy.
