I am a new resident of Oak Park. Do I need a vehicle license?

Yes. Oak Park Village code requires all residents who own or lease a vehicle to purchase a vehicle license annually before midnight July 14. Residents can purchase and renew online.

What are my options for purchasing/renewing a Village vehicle license?

Vehicle licenses may be renewed two ways - online or in person at Village Hall, 123 Madison St. Online renewals are the most convenient. Just go to the Village of Oak Park Customer Portal. You will need the link code printed on the renewal form you received in the mail.

Do I need special hardware or software to renew my vehicle license online?

It is recommended to use the Chrome or Firefox web browsers. Edge and Safari are not fully supported. You only need the renewal form you received in the mail that includes your link code number.

What credit cards do you accept online?

Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are accepted.

What is the deadline for renewing a vehicle license?

Vehicle license must be renewed by midnight July 14.

Can I add a new vehicle when I renew online?

Yes. When you renew online, you will have an opportunity to add or update information on your vehicles. If you no longer own a vehicle, don't renew the vehicle license and it will automatically be removed from the database. If your vehicle information has changed, just update the information when renewing online.

How will I receive my vehicle license?

Vehicle licenses are tied to a license plate number. Nothing will be sent through the mail, but save the confirmation email you received for your records

If I renew my vehicle license online before July 14, but don't receive it in the mail before July 15, what should I do if I receive a citation?

If you receive a citation after July 15 for failure to purchase a vehicle license, you may appeal the citation online within 14 days at oakpark.rmcpay.com. Indicate in your appeal the date of vehicle license purchase. An administrative law judge will review your appeal and may dismiss the citation.

Is there a charge or convenience fee for purchasing/renewing online?

No. The Village currently does not charge a fee for online transactions.

Can I register a vehicle online for a new handicapped/disabled sticker, a new antique car or for an active military member?

Yes. You will be required to upload supporting documentation while registering

I will be turning 65 years old this year, can I renew online with my new status?

You will need to purchase a new vehicle license indicating "Passenger Car, Senior Rate" as the vehicle license type to receive the discounted rate, instead of renewing at your previous rate. You will be required to upload supporting documentation while registering

Why won't the online system take my street address as I entered it?

Many streets in Oak Park do not have a north, south, east or west as part of their registered addresses. If you are still having troubles entering your address, please call the Village's Parking Services Division at 708.358.7275 for assistance.

If I have a problem using the system, what should I do?

What are the hours of the Parking Service Center in Village Hall?

The Parking Service Center is open 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays (except holidays), and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.

How late is Village Hall open on the last business day of sales?

Village Hall hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Parking Services is open until 7 p.m. Mondays except holidays. Village Hall is closed on weekends.

When will prices change to reflect the higher rates after the renewal deadline?

Online transactions that occur after midnight July 14 will automatically be assessed a rate that is $20 more per vehicle than the pre-deadline rate. All in-person sales after July 14 also will be assessed at the higher rate per vehicle.
